Understand the supplier+s self-assessment and complete it efficiently.

Video tutorial on how to complete the self-assessment

What is the supplier+s self-assessment?

The self-assessment starts your collaboration with your customer on decarbonization. By answering a short questionnaire of up to 19 questions, you help evaluate your organization's carbon reduction performance and provide the transparency needed for your customer's sustainability reporting.

What sections does it include?

Your answers generate a carbon reduction score, peer benchmarking and a transparency level. These values can help you and your customers to better understand your sustainability maturity.

Completing the self-assessment

How long does it take?

Completing the self-assessment itself typically takes 30–60 minutes if the required information is readily available.

You may need input from colleagues in sustainability or ESG, carbon accounting, procurement, facility operations, or quality and compliance. To make this easier, you can add colleagues to your account or download the questions as a PDF for internal review. If you need to coordinate internally, it may take a couple of days to collect inputs and then complete the questionnaire.

Can I save and continue later?

Yes. Your answers are saved automatically as you move through the questionnaire, so you can come back and continue anytime.

Remember to click submit when you want your customer to receive the latest version.

Is there a deadline to complete the self-assessment?

If your customer set a deadline, you will find it in your invitation email. Please follow the timeline provided there.

Do I need to answer every question?

No. All questions are optional, but answering more improves your transparency level and the accuracy of your score.

  • If a measure is not relevant to your business, select Not applicable.

  • If a measure is relevant but not implemented yet, select 0% implementation.

To meet common customer expectations, aim for at least 80% transparency before submitting.

Where can I find definitions for specific questions?

Please refer to our designated help page Specific Questionnaire Details

What is a Business Segment?

A business segment groups similar products or services by country and context to keep questions relevant for your organization. The Carbon Reduction Efforts section follows the business segment(s) your customer(s) invited you for.

Multiple invitations for the same business segment and country only require one Carbon Reduction Efforts response. Use answers that apply across all customers requesting that segment. You can view all invitations in the Customer Requests in supplier+s.

Not feeling represented by the questionnaire?

If the Business Segment doesn’t match your business model, start here: The questionnaire doesn’t fit my business model.

Using existing information

Can I reuse answers across Business Segments?

You can import answers between the same segment in different countries. Please refer to our article on how to use the Copy Function / Import Answers.

I already report via EcoVadis or CDP. Can I reuse that content?

Partially. Here is how it works:

  • supplier+s requires segment-level details that are specific to industry and country. Platforms like EcoVadis or CDP do not provide this level of detail, so you will need to enter reduction measures directly in supplier+s.

  • For broader information, such as your carbon footprint, reduction targets, or CDP insights, you can often reuse content from your existing reporting in the Organization Overview section.

  • Many suppliers find that completing supplier+s actually helps improve their EcoVadis or CDP scores, because it structures your climate actions and provides additional metrics (e.g., benchmarks against peers).

Submission

What happens after I submit for the first time?

After registration, you complete the self-assessment in a guided flow. Once you submit for the first time, you can access additional features such as the Carbon Accounting module and the option to invite your own suppliers. You can also transfer your carbon footprint results into the Organization Overview section of the self-assessment.

In general, submitting does the following:

  • Your customer receives your responses.

  • Your score and benchmarking update.

Answers can be updated and resubmitted at any time.
