This part of the self-assessment asks about specific carbon reduction measures your organization has implemented for each Business Segment you supply to your customer.
Find it under Self-Assessment → Carbon Reduction Efforts.
What is a Business Segment?
Think of a business segment as the combination of what you supply and where you supply it from. In supplier+s, it represents a specific product group or service in a specific country.
Examples:
Machinery And Other Electrical Equipment – Germany
Rubber and Plastic Products – Canada
Business Services – Spain
The Carbon Reduction Efforts section follows the business segment(s) included in your customer invitation(s). You can view your invitations under Customer Requests in supplier+s. If multiple requests refer to the same Business Segment and country, they are consolidated into one Carbon Reduction Efforts section.
supplier+s covers 13 business segments across all countries to keep questions and reduction measures relevant across different industries. For an overview of all segments, see this help page.
What are the questions like?
Questions are grouped into chapters. Below is an example of the chapters for the Business Segment "Machinery And Other Electrical Equipment".
Other Business Segments may show different chapters, and the questions within each chapter can vary by segment.
Select a chapter (for example, Renewable Energy) to open the list of relevant reduction measures. For each measure, select the implementation degree and enter the start year when your organization began implementing it.
supplier+s asks for the degree of implementation today, as well as your planned implementation in one year and three years.
For more detail on specific questions, refer to Specific Questionnaire Details or watch our video on how to complete the self-assessment. .
What answers can I give?
Each question asks about a carbon reduction measure and your implementation level for it. You can select one of the dropdown options or enter exact values depending on the question. Dropdown options include:
81 - 100% Almost entire share
61 - 80% Major share
41 - 60% Medium share
21 - 40% Minor share
1 - 20% Pilot share
0% Not implemented
Not applicable
How do I answer correctly?
Answer based on actual practices within the operations of that specific segment. If a business segment covers multiple sites (e.g., two factories in Germany), you should:
consolidate their efforts
disclose the average implementation level
ensure the answer reflects overall performance of the segment
For each measure, select the implementation degree that best reflects how widely it is applied, how consistently it is practiced, and whether it is anchored in internal/ operational policies.
What if a question doesn’t apply to my business?
Select "Not applicable". This is recommended when:
the question does not fit the nature of your operations
the measure cannot be implemented in your business model
Tip: Leaving questions blank lowers your transparency level. Selecting "Not applicable" is better than skipping.
What if many measures do not apply?
That can happen, depending on your business model. Select "Not applicable" where needed.
If the Business Segment itself does not match your business model, refer to:
What if a measure is relevant but not implemented?
Select 0% implementation.
Do I need to answer every question?
No. All questions are optional, but answering more improves your transparency level and the accuracy of your carbon reduction score.
To meet common customer expectations, aim for at least 80% transparency before submitting.
How do my answers affect results?
supplier+s calculates your Carbon Reduction Score, sometimes referred to as your Carbon Reduction Performance, based on your implementation degree and the relevance and impact of each measure for your industry and country.
Your score is shown alongside an industry benchmark, so you can compare your results.
After submission, your customer can see your reduction efforts and Carbon Reduction Score.
More complete and accurate answers make it easier for customers to understand your progress and identify opportunities to collaborate.
Can answers be reused across Business Segments?
If you are invited to the same Business Segment in different countries (for example, Business Services in Spain and France), use the Copy Function / Import Answers to save time.
It is currently not possible to transfer answers from one Business Segment to a different Business Segment.
How can I update my answers?
Log back into supplier+s and return to this section at any time to update your responses. When you want your customer to receive the latest version, click Submit.
How often should I update my answers?
Many customers request an update about once a year.
