The questionnaire doesn’t fit my business model

Learn why your company may have received a questionnaire that doesn’t match your business model, how business segments are assigned, and what to do if you believe you were misclassified—including how to request a segment review.

Updated over a week ago

If your self-assessment questions don’t seem to match your company’s activities, it might be due to how your business segment was automatically classified.

Why this happens

Your classification is based on the goods and services your customer has purchased from you.
Using purchasing data from their PVO (Purchase Volume Overview), supplier+s automatically assigns each supplier to one of 13 business segments:

  1. Business services

  2. Basic metals

  3. Computer, electronic, and optical equipment

  4. Transportation, except rail

  5. Fabricated metal products

  6. Construction

  7. Rubber and plastics products

  8. Motor vehicles and other transport equipment

  9. Machinery and other electrical equipment

  10. Transportation, rail

  11. Basic chemicals

  12. Industrial gases

  13. Speciality chemicals

This ensures that every supplier receives a questionnaire tailored to the products or services they actually provide.

What to do if you were misclassified

If you believe your assigned segment doesn’t reflect your actual business model, please contact our support team to request a review:

To speed up the process:

  • Include your lead firm’s representative (for example, your main contact at the customer) in CC of your email.

  • Briefly describe your company’s main products or services and why the current segment doesn’t fit.

  • Wait for confirmation from both our team and your lead firm before we adjust your classification.

Important to know before requesting changes

  • If your classification is changed, you’ll need to refill the questionnaire for your new business segment. Your company-level questions will remain unchanged.

  • Reclassification also impacts your performance calculation in supplier+s.
Even with approval, the lead firm’s purchasing classification in their PVO remains the same, which can cause minor differences between:

    • The emissions calculated via item+s and PVO data, and

    • Your new supplier+s performance results.

Because of this, reclassification should only be requested when there’s a clear and valid reason to do so.
